The Twilight Craze and Wolf Jewelry

Published by:

By this point most every person in the Developed World has heard of the Twilight series of books and movies, and many have read the novels or seen the films. Since Stephenie Meyers’ first Twilight novel, simply titled Twilight, was published in 2005, the series has taken on a life of its own. It has captured the imaginations of people everywhere, especially girls and young women who are captivated by the deeply romantic characters and story lines of the novels and films. Up to March of 2010, over one hundred million copies of the Twilight series novels have been sold around the world.

And the success of the movies has been even more phenomenal. The first film, Twilight, has pulled in a gross of almost two hundred million dollars in the United States of America. The second and third films, New Moon and Eclipse, have each grossed approximately three hundred million dollars in the United States alone. See wolf necklace for men

There are even conventions that are dedicated to the series, including the so-called Twicon. Twilight has also had a strong presence at established conventions, such as ComicCon.

The town where most of the series takes place, Forks in the State of Washington (in the United States of America), has enjoyed an astounding boon of commercial success as a consequence of the hordes of visitors who are fans of the Twilight series. In fact, tourism to the small community has increased by six hundred per cent since the first novel’s publication in 2005. There are even tours that visitors can take of locations that resemble those in the books and movies, even though the films were not actually shot in the town. Forks goes so far as to commemorate author Stephanie Meyers’ birthday, September 13, as “Twilight Day.”

The Twilight craze is most vividly apparent on school campuses. All manner of items that are related to Twilight can be seen. There are Twilight handbags, backpacks, lunch boxes as well as shirts, jackets, notebooks, pens, pencils, pencil cases, and more.

And there is an abundance of jewelry that is related to the series being worn by young people today. It is possible to buy a replica of a Twilight ring, the ring Edward gave to Bella Swan for their engagement. These can be seen on many a campus. Students also wear a variety of Twilight charms on their charm bracelets, for example a charm of the island where Bella and Edward had their honeymoon, a charm of the old truck Bella drove, and even a baby charm to represent Bella and Edward’s baby daughter.

Many students also wear wolf-related items to represent the werewolves in the series, particularly the handsome werewolf Jacob, who was romantically attracted to Bella and remains her friend. The young people wear wolf charms, wolf necklaces, and wolf rings. It is probable that this craze for the Twilight series will continue unabated for some time, as the final two films (made from the final novel, Breaking Dawn) are scheduled to show in cinemas at the end of 2011 and 2012, respectively. It is indeed possible that we may have only seen the beginning of the Twilight craze.
